Do you have a passion for music education and want to give back to the community in a meaningful way?
The Community Music Center's non-profit board of directors is seeking new members to join our board for the 2024-25 season. If interested in joining our dedicated team of volunteers, please use this online form to apply by April 15, 2024.
The board is especially hoping to find people who live in East Portland to add their voice and perspective to the board’s planning and decision-making; expertise in commercial real estate and financial accounting are sought, too. All applications welcome!
We are currently engaged in building partnerships to serve underserved communities, both geographically (outer East Portland), and demographically, and has been particularly supportive and focused on our partnership with the Center Powered by YOUth at 162nd & Stark, setting up a space there for more concerts and community musical events, some of which would be board-supported. We also aim to set up more culturally specific events at our Francis Street location.
The Community Music Center is supported by an all-volunteer non-profit that raises money year-round to provide instruments, equipment, scholarships, and other items to lower the barriers of participation in the Center's music education programs and activities. It meets monthly on the 2nd Monday evening of each month, in-person at CMC every quarter and on Zoom the other months. Primary expectations of board service are:
· Donate to CMC Inc. at the Member level ($35) or above each year
· Attend all regular board meetings
· Participate in a committee
· Advocate for CMC in the community
